Google Voice Now Open to All in the U.S.

Google Voice is now open to all who reside in the U.S., while before Google Voice was by invitation-only and mostly only college students were invited to use it.  Google had purchased Grand Central voice technology in 2009 and transferred the technology and made it into Google Voice.

Another free service in the plethora of great services that Google offers to its users.  Small businesses, start-ups, college students will now be able to use this technology freely and take phone calls to the next level.

Google Voice is a web technology that combines regular phone service with web technology.  It allows a voice mail to be transcribed and sent right to a user’s inbox, just like an email.  And just like an email, the transcribed voice mail can be shared, starred, deleted, and saved.  Each user is given a phone number that can be forwarded to their home, office, or mobile phone.

It is estimated that about a million users have already downloaded the Google Voice client, and Google expects many more new users over the next few weeks.
