Roomba is a vacuum that allows us to live like the Jetsons

I’ve owned a Roomba vacuum cleaner for 2 weeks now and am amazed at the difference it makes in keeping our living space tidy.  It was my friend’s accurate assessment of Roomba that pushed me to purchase my own.  He stated;  ""Roomba only gets about 80% of the dirt off my floor… but that is 80% I don’t have to clean up"".

We purchased Roomba from Costco for about $280 CAD.  It is one of the 550 series which I highly recommend.

Among its features, it;

-won’t fall down stairs,

-wakes up on schedule and cleans when you want

-returns to its base station to recharge itself

-automatically senses dirt and spends more time in those areas

-adjusts automatically to carpet or hard floors

-is able to follow walls and navigate around furniture

-is quieter than our previous vacuum

-doesn’t require me to supervise it.

What I really like about Roomba?  It does work for me, rather than making me busy managing it.  1 minute to empty its dust tray, and it’s happy to vacuum the house once a day.  Seems like a good return on my effort.  On the old vacuum, just winding up the cord took about a minute.  The slogan on the box sums it up well, ""cleans frequently so you don’t have to"".

What I don’t like is that it does get stuck on our IKEA chairs, or my children’s socks.  Fortunately when that happens it calls for help and waits patiently to be rescued.

I would definitely recommend getting the Roomba 550.  It may not be perfect, but truly it is a marvel to come home and find the ""robot"" vacuuming the house

I love my vacuum cleaner

It is a Eureka SmartVac 4870 Type NZ.  I purchased this vacuum cleaner at Wal-Mart for about $50 not expecting much from it.  But it’s the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had!  It is so much better and quieter than the Hoover WindTunnel I used to own.  I paid $300 for my WindTunnel and I hated it.  It smelled terribly, clogged all the time and was so heavy!

Now, my new Eureka vacuum cleaner comes with multiple attachments, one of which is called the ""Power Paw"" which works really well for picking up dog hair.  The cord is of a decent length and it has a nice, wide path.  It is extremely light to carry up the stairs too.

Changing the bag is a breeze and it is not messy like many other bagged vacuum cleaners.  The replacement bags I purchase for it come 3 to a pack and are not very expensive either.

This model has 3 air filters, all of which are extremely easy to access underneath the bag and on the front of the machine.  Cleaning the air filters is simple too.  For vacuuming, it has adjustable settings for hard surfaces or carpet.  It also has a switch which shuts off the main suction when you need to use the extension.  This creates extra suction from the hose which works really well for those corners!  This vacuum cleaner has never clogged and I have owned this Eureka for much longer than any other vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had, probably two or years, and I know it will last much longer.

I would certainly recommend this vacuum to someone else.  It is a great value at an awesome price!"

Love The Dyson D25!

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

We bought our Dyson DC25 All-Floor Ball Upright Vacuum almost a year ago from Sears. We got a really good deal on it (no interest for a year, almost 150 dollars off and free shipping); we paid just over 300 dollars for it. I was skeptical; a vacuum is a vacuum so how great could it possibly be? Well, let me tell you, I am a convert. I made everyone who came over during those first few weeks (my mom, my best friend, my sister-in-law) try it out. It is super light weight and easy to move considering and pivots on a dime. I was both somewhat shocked and vaguely appalled at the amount of debris and hair (we have two cats) that it picked up. I went from being a once-a-week vacuumer to vacuuming three times a week, solely because it is such a pleasure (yes, I know, a pleasurewho knew?) to vacuum.

My mom liked it so much she bought one for herself and my sister-in-law asked for one for Christmas. I see a definite difference in the way our carpets look (I thought they looked clean before, but apparently I was mistaken) and also in how they feel when walking around barefoot. I have told coworkers and friends about my dyson. I have not a single complaint. It took five minutes to put together, is easy to use, is super quiet for a vacuum and truly works like a champ. I wouldn’t trade it for any other vacuum out there.
