Reliable, sturdy, and powerful – these are but a few words to describe my Eureka 437AZ Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum. Our journey together began a few weeks after getting my first apartment by myself.

A young freshman living in a two-bedroom apartment, I very naively overlooked such a fundamental object to have in a house and waited until my floor resembled a New York sidewalk. When I felt like I truly could no longer stand how gross my floor had become, I went to Wal-Mart and reluctantly spent $80 on my very first vacuum, without having read any vacuum cleaner ratings online. Though at first I was hesitant on spending so much money on an item I previously thought was useless, I have never looked back on my monumental purchase.

Three years later I have been nothing but pleased with vacuum, affectionately named Hoover. Its lightweight and portability make it fabulous for the needs of a small carpeted apartment however do not let it’s small stature fool you, its 12-amp motor creates a whirlwind of force capable of picking up even the foulest of college apartment floors. When picking a vacuum my primary concern was its ability to pick up not only large debris that is visible with the naked eye, but also suck up the smaller, invisible dust and allergens that would get caught in the carpet and stir up my allergies.

My secondary concern was my need for a bag-less device. Though many of the other vacuums were indeed cheaper, I felt that purchasing a bag-less vacuum would enable me to be both environmentally friendly and would save me money in the long run. What was once a chore has now become a complete pleasure thanks to my Eureka Upright Vacuum!

My first experience with cornhole was when I was in college, several years ago. Before a home football game, the campus would be covered with tailgate parties. All of these tailgates had three things in common; a grill cooking up yummy food, a cooler of ice-cold beer, and a game of cornhole.

The first time I played the game, was during my sophomore year of college. The folks I was playing with had turned cornhole into a drinking game. It seems like everything in college turns into a drinking game, but I guess it makes sense at a football tailgate. I wasn’t old enough to drink at the time, so I declined a beer and went with a coke instead. Once I played my first round, I was hooked. I seemed to take to it right away, and I was amazed how easy it was to play when you’re not drunk. To this day, the fondest memories I have of college include staying up late with friends, snickering at the questions sorority girls would ask in class and playing cornhole on Saturdays.

Some of my friends used to make amazing cornhole boards. They would be decorated with our college’s colors and sometimes a very realistic picture of our mascot. One of the great things about cornhole is how much you can personalize the game to your liking. The beanbags, the board and even the rules can be changed depending on who’s playing the game.

I haven’t played cornhole in several years, and I sure do miss it. Without an occasion like a football tailgate, playing the game just doesn’t feel right. Even though I’m out of practice, under the right circumstances I would pick up a beanbag in a heartbeat.

I bought a vacuum cleaner 3 years back by the name EUREKA FORBES EK-25. I bought through the executive who came for demo at my home. In fact before to that I’ve seen this machine used by many of my relatives.

Mainly I am using this machine for catching spider webs. Also it helps me a lot in cleaning my sofa set, carpet used in house, curtains etc. Also it is very helpful in cleaning ceiling fan. It works with system of sucking air thereby collecting all the dust particles in the bag provided. The bag used is a reusable bag upto 5 times and the bag is available in the open market for purchase.

The machine consist of a motor part, suction hose, crevice nozzle, carpet brush and a small brush for cleaning sopha. Also it consist of a spray jar. Spray jar can be used for spraying insecticides and for spraying pesticides for plants.

Machine is very much useful for those who are having dust allergy as we can clean the surface with out inhaling dust. Also it is very useful for cleaning car.

The important matter we have to keep in our mind is, to prevent water from entering into the motor part, it damages the machine and no company will provide warranty if it got damaged by sucking water.Hence the machine should be used in dry surface only. The spray jar is to be connected to the other side of machine from where air is blown out.

I suggest every one who loves to keep their home clean, should have a vacuum cleaner as it is a multi purpose one. I know many of my friends who had seen my various usage of the machine has bought the same. Also it has a function for auto rewind of the electric code, hence it is very easy to handle.

Before concluding, let me say the decision for purchasing a Vacuum cleaner was good for me.

The first time I was introduced to Cornhole was at a high school graduation party. The weather was perfect for being outdoors, and my friend’s parents were having a barbeque party for him.

Everyone was having a great time outside. When I first walked around to their backyard there was this bag game that reminded me of the tic-tac-toe bean bag game I had when I was younger.

Well it turned out that my friend’s grandparents had made him this game called Cornhole. They had found a website with instructions on how to build it. His grandpa had built the game out of materials he had in his basement, and his grandma painted it. Now, this was the first time I had played or seen Cornhole, but this setup was the best I have seen. My friend was attending the University of Notre Dame the following year and his grandparents had a great idea.

They painted a football field with the holes in the end zone on the boxes. The cornhole bags were blue and gold, matching the school colors. This was part of their graduation present to him.

We had a blast the whole afternoon playing. The only problem was that everyone wanted to play. We had to have a rotating tournament just so everyone there would get to play. The only time there weren’t people playing was when we ate and once the sun went down. This afternoon has ended up being one of my fondest memories from that summer. Now every time anyone goes to his house we all want to play Cornhole. I had so much fun that I even decided to get one of my own and have gifted several since then.

A vacuum that I have had now for a few years is the Bissell PowerGlide Platinum vacuum. I have had it since I left college which was 5 years ago. I’m pretty sure that I purchased it from Target and I paid right around $80.00 for it. I wanted to get something that was going to do the job but not break my bank.
One thing that I really like about my vacuum is that it is fairly lightweight. Right after college I moved into a small one bedroom apartment and I really didn’t want to be carrying around a huge vacuum that was really heavy. I have carpet in my apartment that is farily long but not overly shaggy.

Something that I have noticed over time is that I usually have to put some sort of carpet powder or carpet freshner on the floor before I vacuum. After about a year or so the vacuum cleaner started to put out a weird smell. It almost smelled like something was burning or about to catch fire and it would make my carpet stink. Another thing that is kind of bothersome about the vacuum is that I have really long hair and it is a nightmare to vacuum up. After a few months I have to cut my hair out of the bottom of the cleaner where the bristles are. This is such a pain and I really don’t know how I can fix it. Not to mention it is pretty close.

One thing that really hasn’t bothered me too much is having to change the bags. I actually prefer it to a bag less vacuum because you don’t have a bunch of dust and dirt blowing back in your face when you try to empty it. I was pleasantly surprised by this, although after checking on-line, a lot of other vacuum cleaner reviews mention that changing the bag wasn’t a big deal for them, too. Overall I think this was a pretty good product for the price that I paid for it. It gets the job done and I have had it for a few years.

Any of the Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled Bagged Upright Vacuums are my pick for best vacuum. The strong motor translates to a vacuum with superior power and suction. We vacuumed up socks, rags, and toys without damaging our Hoover. Other vacuums we had did not last under our heavy use. With a little normal maintenance–cleaning the roller, replacing the bag, checking the hose, rising the filters, etc. The Hoover WindTunnel will last forever.

It has great features like; the clean indicator light, a no-spin floor switch, easy self-propel, top rated HEPA Filtration, and easy to swap attachments. The older models are a bit heavy, but that is the only negative. Our family tried lots of vacuums before we stumbled on our first WindTunnel. I bought our first Hoover for about 40 bucks at a Bon Marche closeout store. We gave our closeout mode Hoover a whirl. It cleaned everything; the carpets, the hardwood, the baseboards, the window sills, the ceiling, and the stairs. It sucked up cheerios, gum wrappers, sand, wood chips, and toy bits without giving up. The fur, hair, rocks, and Legos that caused the demise of our other vacuums were no match for the WindTunnel.

Our first WindTunnel, stayed with our house in the US when we moved abroad for a year. We moved back to find the renters like the WindTunnel so much they took it. We bought a new Hoover WindTunnel Bagged Upright at Sears and bought one for parents. That was over ten years ago, we paid under $150. My parents had to buy a new WindTunnel because their first one moved out with my sister. They gave one to my grandmother too. This summer, we decided it was time to replace our WindTunnel. I tried out my friend’s Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Dual Cyclonic Bagless because I liked the commercials. I was so disappointed. I tried to suck up dirt in cracks and it just sat there. I decided to replace our old WindTunnel with a bagless version.

On a whim bought a Hoover WindTunnel Pet Rewind Upright on sale at Target® for $129.99. It picks up better than my friends Bissell but, it did not compare to my beat up old vacuum. It was to light too pick up the tough stuff and even bounced over tracks in my carpet. After one use I tried to return it. I was promptly told by the Target employee they only take a vacuum that is unopened and unused. I had my receipt, you could see I had it less than 24 hours. Never again will I buy a vacuum, or any large ticket item, at Target. I went back to using to my trusty WindTunnel.

After a few weeks, my husband came home from BestBuy with a new Hoover U6485-900 Wind Tunnel Self Propelled Bagged Upright Vacuum. It is as strong as the older model but much lighter. Our old Hoover WindTunnel is now semi-retired after over a decade of hard work. I still use it for jobs I fear could break a vacuum–sucking up cat litter, ridding the house of tinsel, and slurping the crusty accumulations in my car. At $179.99 our new Hoover U6485-900 Wind Tunnel Self Propelled Bagged Upright is a great vacuum too. I highly recommend it.

I discovered the corn hole game a few weeks ago at a birthday party my daughter attended. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and the party was at the house and there was plenty going on to keep the kids occupied. Since I didn’t really know anybody there, I grabbed a beer (nice surprise) and headed to the back yard. It was there that I saw the boxes with the hole and the bean bags. I thought to myself, this game has to have a name, but what is it?

Without hesitation and a general instinct of how to play, I picked up a handful of bean bags and lobbed one in the air to the other box with a hole in it that sat about 50ft away. The bean bag landed on the ground, about a foot from the box. I had a little better luck with the second one which landed about 6 inches from the box and the third one was over thrown, big time.

For the life of me I could not figure out what the name of this game was. I had seen some people playing it tailgates and places like that, but I never took the time to ask or learn about it. I took another sip of beer and figured I’d try throwing some more bean bags. I noticed a bag next to the box, which I assumed had more bean bags in it, so I bent down and rummaged through it and noticed some writing on the side; The Corn Hole Game it read. Wow, all this time, I never knew what the cornhole game was and now I had finally found out.

After a few times playing with myself, it didn’t take long for the father of the daughter who was having the birthday came out and join me. This game can be very addictive” he said, and around here, it is very competitive, he added.
“Let’s go!” I responded, “I do need to know a few rules though,” I confessed.

He taught me everything I needed to know in about 2-3 minutes and we were off. I gave him a run for the money, but he ended up winning. We kept playing throughout the day, in between spurts of attending to the kids, but luckily our wives understood that we were in the middle of an addictive game.

I took it as a good sign when he mentioned that I should come over sometime when they play one of their marathon competitions, which will actually involve flood lighting. That was two weeks ago, and I can tell you that now spring is in the air, I am now online looking for deals on the corn hole game!

To the general public, the home office of the Metropolitan life insurance Company at 1 Madison Avenue represented a striking architectural landmark of New York and the headquarters of a leading public service institution.

But to those within the organization the home office had significance greater than this. It was the very nerve center of the company, where more than 15,000 men and women came to work each day. It was the focus of a network which embraced 1,100 district and local offices in all parts of the United States and Canada, and nearly 28,000 agents and office workers, a much larger amount than any other company in the health, car book value, used car value, or trade in value insurance industry.

At its center were the chief executives, under whose broad guidance functioned a variety of skills: administrative, medical, actuarial, legal, financial, architectural, sales directional, and an army of clerical and maintenance personnel. From this vast human switchboard ran impulses which touched intimately the lives of 30,000,000 policyholders, who owned 43,000,000 policies for $27,000,000,000 of insurance.

These mighty figures needed to be read in terms of the human energy needed to keep in accurate and effective operation life insurance on more than one fifth of the people of two great nations. It is doubtful whether the early officers even dreamed of anything remotely resembling such development. Certainly they were modest in their choice of the first home office in 1868 as well as the value of their homes, automobiles, car book value, and trade in value.

The Metropolitan had its first headquarters at 243 Broadway in a small office building, the kind you can see any time on any small town Main Street. It boasted two offices on the second floor, a small rear room for President Dow, and a front room which housed the remainder of the staff— Vice-President, Secretary, Cashier, Policy Clerk, and Office Manager.

Two years later a desire for better quarters led to a move to more spacious third floor offices at 319 Broadway. These were modest accommodations for the few officers and a clerical force which still numbered less than a dozen. A couple of desk drawers held all the files and the complete assets fitted easily into a small leather dispatch case. When they asked automobile experts to “value my car” or for the car book value, they could now expect a much higher dollar amount than years previous.

In 1876 the company moved to its third home, a white marble building at Park Place and Church Street which towered seven stories high and had in addition a basement and sub-cellar. It already owned a leasehold on this building, and Vice- President Hegeman proudly noted that the Metropolitan “had given up boarding and gone into housekeeping of its own.”
